We'll walk through the fields towards the pretty hamlet of Hurstwood before reaching the reservoir of the same name. We'll then follow the Pennine Bridleway over the moors, crossing over the border to West Yorkshire, reaching the Gorple Stones before going past Upper Gorple and Lower Gorple reservoirs. After that we'll take the Pennine Way and further footpaths to the village of Heptonstall. We'll have a quick look round, maybe an ice cream before descending to Hebden Bridge.

This is a linear walk and we'll catch the 591 bus back to the start. On Sundays the buses are every hour and leave Hebden at approx 25 minutes past the hour until 16.25. Then there's a break before the next bus at 18.10. There are 2 further buses at 10 past the hour. A single ticket costs £2.50.
There are plenty of places for post-walk refreshments in Hebden.

Please wear good shoes or boots. Whilst the tracks are good, they can be muddy on the open moorland.

There are great views from Fair Snape Fell on this walk as we go from Calder Vale around the back of the Fell for a steady but not too strenuous ascent. On a good day you  can see the peaks of Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire..

We drop down a short, winding but steep track to the bottom of the Fell and come back on good tracks across the Bleasdale Estate.

On the tops there are short stretches of peat hags which can be wet and boggy so boots are needed for this walk. 

Walk not ideal for dogs as there's a range of livestock en route.= cows, sheep and pheasants/ grouse.

Given the height and nature of the walk, it isnt suitable if there are high winds or heavy  rain. In this instance, I will  offer a low level alternative from the same point but will update the walk details the day  before if that's the case.

 Our Sunday  walk will be for those on the weekend only to give us some choice in route.

Swaledale contains lots of heritage mine sites which add a great interest to walks in this area. We will begin our walk along the Coast to Coast route towards Keld. This takes us past Old Gang Mills- smelt mills- and up towards Surrender Bridge. From there we will ascend Reeth High Moor along tracks and survey some more great industrial heritage of the area. We will drop  down and use valley paths back into Reeth. 

There is height gain up onto the moor but quite a lot of sections are decent tracks. Boots still needed for the moor though!

In case of heavy  rain or high winds I may  vary the route and keep  lower level.
